American swimmer. Born Mar 22, 1943, in New York, NY; children: 3.

At Rome Olympics, won a gold medal in the 4 × 100-meter medley relay and a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke (1960), the 1st American woman to win that event in 28 years; won 6 national AAU titles; set 6 World records; was also a model.
