Bond, Jessie (1853–1942)
English actress and singer. Born Jan 11, 1853, in London, England; died June 17, 1942; m. Lewis Ransome.
Made stage debut as Hebe in the 1st production of H.M.S. Pinafore (1878); was a member of Gilbert & Sullivan's Savoy company (1881–91), appearing as Edith in Pirates of Penzance, Lady Angela in Patience, Constance in The Sorcerer, Phoebe Merryll in The Yeoman of the Guard, Tessa in The Gondoliers, title role in Iolanthe, Melissa in Princess Ida, Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado. Portrayed by Dorothy Atkinson in the film Topsy Turvy (1999).
