Blandick, Clara (1880–1962)

American actress. Born June 4, 1880, on American ship anchored in Hong Kong; committed suicide, April 15, 1962, in Hollywood, California.

Character actress, played Aunt Polly in Tom Sawyer (1930) and Huckleberry Finn (1931), but best remembered for role of Auntie Em in The Wizard of Oz (1939); other films include Anthony Adverse (1936), A Star Is Born (1937), Drums Along the Mohawk (1939), Northwest Mounted Police (1940), Heaven Can Wait (1943) and Life With Father (1947).
