Colombian hero. Born in El Socorro, Colombia; beheaded in 1781.
Opposing the Spanish government of Charles III, organized a peasant revolt over excess taxes in the cities of the northeast (1780), which resulted in a revolution throughout New Granada; the 1st person to publicly challenge Spanish exploitation, is a well-known hero in Colombia.
