American politician and journalist. Born Maryon Pittman in Meridian, Mississippi, Nov 30, 1925; attended University of Alabama; m. James B. Allen (Alabama's lieutenant governor and US senator), Aug 1964.
Democrat of Alabama, served in 95th Congress (June 8, 1978–Nov 7, 1978); wrote a syndicated Washington-based column called "The Reflections of a News Hen"; later was a columnist for the Washington Post.
