Abbott, Bessie (d. 1937)

American soprano. Born Elizabeth Pickens, Riverside, NY; died Feb 1, 1937; granddau. of US Ambassador to St. Petersburg; studied under Bouhy and Mathilde Marchesi.

Made debut at Paris Opera as Juliet in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette (1901); appeared at the Élysée and British Embassy, Paris.
