Abbott, Evelyn (1843–1901)

British classical scholar. Born in 1843; died in 1901; educated at Lincoln Grammar School, Somerset College, Bath, and Balliol College, Oxford.

Evelyn Abbott, who endured a spinal cord injury at age 23 that paralyzed her lower limbs for life, was the author of History of Greece (3 vols., 1888–1900) and the editor of Hellenica (1880).
