time-series data
time-series data Data about a social phenomenon or phenomena which are ordered in time. In sociology the most common form of time-series data are those derived either from Censuses or panel studies, although opinion-poll surveys and some administrative records offer opportunities for time-series study. Occasionally, two or more unrelated ad hoc surveys have asked similar sorts of questions of similar populations, and allow an approximation to time-series analysis. In Britain the Central Statistical Office hosts a time-series data-bank, which contains information on some 2,000 variables.
