P. A. Jacobs
American physician who with J. A. Strong was the first to show that Klinefelter's syndrome was caused by a genetic defect on one of the sex chromosomes. This, along with Turner's syndrome, was among the first diseases to be localized to a specific chromosome. In addition, by helping to localize the chromosome on which the faulty genes are carried, Jacobs and Strong helped set the stage for a better understanding of genetic disease in general.
