Lai-Sang Young
1952-
Chinese-American mathematician whose work focuses on "strange attractors." Young was awarded the Ruth Lyttle Satter Prize for her role in "the investigation of the statistical properties of dynamical systems and [having] developed important and difficult techniques which have done much to clarify the subject." Born in Hong Kong, Young has studied and worked at a number of prestigious institutions, including the University of Michigan, the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton, and Berkeley.
