Konrad Kyeser von Eichstadt

fl. early 1400s

German author of the Bellifortis (1405), also called the Kyeser Codex, in which he compiled everything that he knew about contemporary technology, primarily warfare. Interestingly, the work also contains one of the earliest known references to a "chastity belt," an iron device that Italian men are reported to have imposed upon women to assure their sexual abstinence while the men were away, usually at war.
