Johannes de Ketham

German physician, also known as Johannes von Kirchheim, who was professor of medicine at the University of Vienna around 1460. His Fasciculus medicinae (Compilation of Medicine, 1491) contains the first printed anatomical illustrations, including the famous dissection scene. The book consists of many short, anonymous medical essays, some of which existed in manuscript 200 years prior. The Italian translation, Fasciculo de medicina, with more and better illustrations and text, was popular for about 30 years after its publication in 1493.
