François Rousset

French physician who was the personal physician to the Duke of Savoy and who is known for publishing in 1581 a record of 15 cesarean sections. Rousset's account confirms that the dangerous procedure was indeed practiced at that time; these particular procedures were performed over a span of 80 years. As a point of interest, one woman was recorded to have undergone six of these procedures.
