Andrew Victor Schally

1926-

Polish-American endocrinologist who received the 1977 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, along with Roger Guillemin and Rosalyn Yalow, for his work in isolating and synthesizing the hormones that control other hormone-producing glands. Schally was responsible for synthesizing TRH (thyrotropin-releasing hormone) and isolating LH-RH (luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone), hormones secreted by the hypothalamus that control the activities of other hormone-producing glands.
