Vespertilionidae
Vespertilionidae (European bats; order Chiroptera, suborder Microchiroptera) A family of insectivorous bats in which the nose is usually simple, the tail extends to the edge of the uropatagium, and the ears are simple and usually immobile. Some forms have long ears and narial pads on the nose. Tylonycteris has sessile adhesive pads on all limbs. Pipistrellus pipistrellus is the common pipistrelle bat. The family has a world-wide distribution, except for the Arctic and Antarctic regions. There are 42 genera, with about 320 species.
