Psyllidae (order Hemiptera, suborder Homoptera) Family of bugs in which the rostrum arises between the bases of the front pair of legs, and the hind pair of legs is modified for jumping. Psyllids suck the sap of many different kinds of plants and some of them cause the formation of galls. The immature stages are almost immobile and cannot jump. There are about 1300 species, distributed world-wide.
