plant sociability In the description and analysis of plant communities, a measure of the distribution pattern and organization of a species. The Zurich–Montpellier phytosociological scheme (see phytosociology) uses a five-point sociability scale: (1)growing once in a place, singly;(2)grouped or tufted;(3)growing in troops, small patches, or cushions;(4)growing in small colonies, extensive patches, or forming carpets; and(5)growing in great crowds or pure populations.See also Domin scale.
