Periptychidae
Periptychidae (superorder Protoungulata, order Condylarthra) An extinct family of primitive ungulates which are known to have lived during the Palaeocene in N. America. The cheek teeth were bunodont and additional cusps were present. Periptychus was rather smaller than a modern tapir, and had short legs and a long tail.
