Hyphochytriomycetes (subdivision Mastigomycotina) A class of microscopic fungi which form zoospores having an anteriorly directed, tinsel flagellum. They are found mainly in aquatic habitats as parasites in algae and aquatic fungi, and as saprotrophs on dead plant and animal remains.
