Haplorrhini
Haplorrhini (cohort Unguiculata, order Primates) A suborder that comprises the anthropoids (suborder Simiiformes, with the superfamilies Ceboidea, Cercopithecoidea, and Hominoidea) and the tarsiers (infra-order Tarsiiformes), in all of which the upper lip is whole and the placenta haemochorial. On these and other grounds (including the proportion of proteins that are shared among primate groups) the tarsiers show closer affinities to the anthropoids than they do to the lemurs. The Haplorrhini are contrasted with the remaining primate groups, which are placed in the suborder Strepsirrhini.
