Gliricidia (family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionatae) A genus of trees that have pinnate leaves which smell of coumarin (the smell of freshly cut grass) when dry. G. sepium (Mexican lilac) is widely cultivated for shade, as firewood, and for living fences. Its powdered seeds or bark kill mice. There are 4 species, native to tropical America.
