Evaniidae (ensign wasps; suborder Symphyta, superfamily Evanioidea) Family of black symphytans, 3–15 mm long, which are somewhat spider-like in appearance. The small abdomen is carried on a long petiole, the thorax is very stout, and the coxae are grooved to receive the long trochanters. Adults are found in association with Blattodea (cockroaches) whose oothecae they parasitize.
