Dimetrodon angelensis Large, specialized, meat-eating reptile from the Lower Permian of North America. Dimetrodon had a synapsid-type skull and is grouped amongst the pelycosaurs. It grew to over 3 m in length and is noted for the presence of a large sail on its back. The skull of this carnivore was high and narrow, with the teeth differentiated and well adapted to predatory habits.

Dimetrodon grew to over 3 m in length and is noted for the presence of a large sail on its back.
