SAUTR?NTIKA

The term Sautrantika means "those who rely upon the s?tras." The Sautr?ntika mainstream Indian Buddhist school represented a dissenting doctrinal party within the Sarv?stiv?da school, which was referred to by their Sarv?stiv?din opponents as D?r???ntika. The Sautr?ntika school rejected the authority of a separate abhidharma collection and adopted a doctrinal position of extreme momentariness, whereby only present activity exists.
