KIEL, YEHUDA

KIEL, YEHUDA (1917– ), Israel educationist. Born in Petrograd, as a child he lived in Lithuania and Latvia. Arriving in Palestine in 1935, he helped develop the state religious education system and was its national supervisor of elementary and secondary education. In 1992 he was awarded the Israel Prize for Jewish studies in recognition of his commentary on books of the Bible, particularly his wide-ranging ones on First and Second Chronicles.
