FOX, EMANUEL PHILIPS
FOX, EMANUEL PHILIPS (1864–1915), Australian artist, generally known as E. Philips Fox. Born in Melbourne, Fox studied in Paris from 1886 to 1892, but returned to his birthplace, where he spent most of the rest of his life. His paintings, which include many commissioned portraits, are highly regarded and well-represented in Australia's galleries. Fox is probably the best-known Australian Jewish artist.
