Dominguito of Saragossa, St.
DOMINGUITO OF SARAGOSSA, ST.
Also called Dominic of Val; reputed martyr; d. Sara-gossa, Aragon, Spain, 1250. Seven-year-old Dominguito was an altar boy at Saragossa cathedral. He is among the many Medieval boy martyrs whose death was ascribed to Jews without evidence to support the claim. Little Dominic was allegedly kidnapped and nailed against a wall by Jews in hatred of the faith. Pope Pius VII approved (Nov. 24, 1805) the continuation of the de facto cultus for Saragossa.
Feast: formerly Aug. 31 (Aragon).
