ALKAḤI, MORDEKHAI
ALKAḤI, MORDEKHAI (1925–1947), Jew executed by the British in Palestine. Alkaḥi was born in Petaḥ Tikvah and grew up under difficult circumstances. He joined i.Ẓ.l. in 1943 and gained a reputation for his courage and initiative. He was captured together with Yeḥiel *Drezner and Eliezer *Kashani on Dec. 29, 1946, while attempting to kidnap some British officers, and with his companions was hanged in Acre.
