Nijūshi-ryu

Nijūshi-ryu (Jap., ‘24 currents’). The twenty-four Zen schools or traditions in Japan. They include the three major divisions, Rinzai, Sōtō, and Obaku, and also the divisions of Rinzai usually named after the monastery where they began.
