Mūla-sarvāstivāda

Mūla-sarvāstivāda. Name adopted by the Buddhist Sarvāstivāda school some time in the 7th cent. CE, to distinguish it from three subschools which had detached themselves. The three subschools, of the Dharmagupta, Mahīśāsaka, and Kāśyapīya, became established in Central Asia.
