Tulloch, John

John Tulloch (tŭl´əkh, –ək), 1823–86, Scottish liberal theologian and educator. Ordained (1845) into the Church of Scotland, he was a parish minister until 1854, when he became principal and professor of theology of St. Mary's College, St. Andrews Univ. In 1859 he was appointed a chaplain to Queen Victoria. He was influential in matters of education. In 1878 he was moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. Among his many historical works is Rational Theology and Christian Philosophy in England in the Seventeenth Century (1872).
