Perrot, Jules
Jules Perrot (zhül pĕrō´), 1810–92, French dancer and choreographer, b. Lyons. Perrot studied with Auguste Vestris and Salvatore Vigano. He gained fame as a dancer before turning to choreography. From 1848 to 1859 he worked at the Imperial Theatre in St. Petersburg. His ballets included Esmeralda,Ondine,Le Corsaire, and part of the original Giselle (1841).
