Nyamuragira
Nyamuragira or Nyamulagira, active volcano (11,033 ft/3,058 m), S Virunga range, in E Congo (Kinshasa) near the Rwanda border, N of Lake Kivu and 15 mi (25 km) N of Goma, in S Virunga National Park. A broad, masssive shield volcano located across the East African Rift Valley from Nyiragongo, it is Africa's most active volcano in historic times. There is a lava lake in its summit caldera. The extensive lava flows from its eruptions at times have reached Kivu's shore.
