Micaëlis de Vasconcelos, Carolina
Carolina Micaëlis de Vasconcelos (kärōlē´nä mēkäā´lĬs dĬ väsh´kŏŏnsĕl´ŏŏsh), 1851–1925, Portuguese scholar, b. Berlin. As a youth she gained a considerable reputation as a Romance philologist. After her marriage in 1876, she moved to Portugal. Her brilliant edition of the Cancioneiro de Ajuda (1904), masterfully reconstructed the history of early Portuguese literature and language. She was a professor at the Univ. of Coimbra.
