Eudoxus of Cyzicus (yōōdŏk´səs, sĬz´Ĭkəs), fl. 130 BC, Greek navigator in the service of the Ptolemies. He explored the Arabian Sea for Ptolemy VIII. After being blown from his course to the east coast of Africa, he decided that Africa could be circumnavigated. Setting out from Gades (Cádiz), he was driven ashore at Morocco on a first voyage. He undertook a second voyage down the west coast of Africa and was never heard from again.
