Biminis
Biminis (bĬ´mĬnēz, bəmē´nēz), island group in the Straits of Florida, forming the northwest section of the Bahamas. The group includes North Bimini, South Bimini, and surrounding cays. Exceptionally good fishing attracts many tourists.
The Biminis are said to where the fountain of youth for which Juan Ponce de León searched was located, but that legend concerning the explorer was concocted by an enemy after his death in an effort to make him look foolish. Ponce de León, who was granted what was thought to be the single island of Bimini, discovered Florida instead.
