Eduardo Barrios (āŧħwär´ŧħō bär´yōs), 1884–1963, Chilean novelist, short-story writer, and playwright. He was director of libraries and minister of education in Chile. As a writer he was interested in the inner workings of his characters, especially the unstable or abnormal, whom he analyzed with sympathy. His works include El niño que se enloqueció de amor [the child who went mad because of love] (1915) and Gran señor y rajadiablos [big operator and hellraiser] (1948).
