Xanthian Marbles
Xanthian Marbles sculptures found in 1838 at the site of the ancient Lycian town of Xanthus (now in Turkey), which are now in the British Museum. The figures are Assyrian in character and are believed to have been executed before 500 bc; the subjects include processions, athletic activity, sieges, and tomb scenes.
