Confetti ★★ 2006 (R)

Over the top Brit romantic comedy about three would-be weddings. Bridal magazine Confetti is sponsoring a contest for the year's most original wedding. Meltdowns occur as the big finale approaches for one over-whelmed couple. 100m/C DVD . GB Martin Freeman, Jessica Stevenson, Robert Webb, Stephen Mangan, Meredith MacNeill, Olivia Colman, Marc Wootton, Vincent Franklin, Jason Watkins; D: Debbie Isitt; C: Dewald Aukema; M: Paul Englishby.

confetti small pieces of coloured paper traditionally thrown over a bride and bridegroom by their wedding guests after the marriage ceremony has taken place. The term is recorded from the early 19th century, and originally denoted the real or imitation sweets thrown during Italian carnivals; it comes from Italian, literally ‘sweets’, from Latin confectum ‘something prepared’.
