Berkeley, Sir Lennox Randal Francis
Berkeley, Sir Lennox Randal Francis (1903–89) English composer. He was a pupil (1927–33) of Nadia Boulanger in Paris. His early works, such as Serenade for Strings (1939), are influenced by Igor Stravinsky. Berkeley's major choral work is the Stabat Mater (1946). He also wrote four operas – including Nelson (1954) – four symphonies, sacred and chamber music.
