Battenberg, Louis Alexander
Battenberg, Louis Alexander (1854–1921) British admiral, b. Austria. In 1884 he married Princess Alice, granddaughter of Queen Victoria. In 1917 Battenberg renounced his German titles, Anglicised his name as Mountbatten and was created 1st Marquess of Milford Haven. His youngest son was Louis Mountbatten and his grandson is Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
