Born March 17, 1934, in Hahira, GA (some source say Asheville, NC); daughter of Clarence Duffie and Ruth Evangeline (maiden name, Davis) Shelton. Education: Attended Berea College, 1955; also attended Royal Academy Dramatic Art, London, 1959. Politics: Democrat.
