Born June 6, 1947, in New York, NY; son of Sydney and Helen (maiden name, Sachs) Berman; married Jill Kopelov, August 14, 1970; children: three. Education: Syracuse University, B.A., 1968, M.S., 1970. Religion:Judaism.

Career: Sports anchor, television and radio host, producer, and writer. WDTN–TV, Dayton, OH, news and sports reporter, c. 1970–74; WBZ–TV, Boston, MA, sportscaster, c. 1973–78; WCBS–TV, New York City, sports reporter, 1979–82, weekend sports anchor, c. 1982–85; NBC 4, New York City, sportscaster for local evening news programs, beginning 1991, including host of seasonal sports specials on the New York Giants, the New York Knicks, and the New York Mets. Worked as a play-by-play announcer for the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots, 1974–78, and for the Big East Basketball Conference, 1980–86; voice of TVKO Boxing (pay-per-view cable service), 1991–93; also play-by-play commentator for college basketball and National Football League events. Procter & Gamble, spokesperson for " Wanted: The Dirtiest Kid in America" contest for Tide detergent. College Holocaust Candle Program, national chair, 1996. Member of the advisory board, Syracuse University, and St. John's University, Jamaica, Queens, New York City.
