Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a resident of San Diego County (military personnel and dependents are exempt); must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States; must attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university or licensed trade and vocational school in the U.S.; must be a full-time student (unless otherwise noted); must have a measure of academic and civic achievement; must be of good moral and personal character; must be a graduate from Mission Bay High School, San Diego, CA; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and committed in serving the community through involvement in community service, church or extracurricular activities. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

AeA Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Mathematics and mathematical sciences; Science; Engineering; Computer and information sciences. Qualif.: Applicant must be a resident of San Diego County (military personnel and dependents are exempt); a citizen or legal resident of the United States; attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university or licensed trade and vocational school in the U.S.; a full-time student (unless otherwise noted); have a measure of academic and civic achievement; be of good moral and personal character; graduate from a San Diego County public high school; have a minimum 3.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and be majoring in math, science, engineering, or computers. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

After-the-Fires Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a resident of San Diego County (military personnel and dependents are exempt); a citizen or legal resident of the United States; attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university or licensed trade and vocational school in the U.S.; a full-time student (unless otherwise noted); have a measure of academic and civic achievement; be of good moral and personal character; have a minimum 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale; demonstrated financial need; and lost homes and/or source of income in the 2007 wildfires. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $500-$2500. Number Awarded: To be determined. Julie Allen World Classroom Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: International affairs and relations; Business; Economics; Civil rights; Foreign languages. Qualif.: Applicant must be an undergraduate student enrolled at the University of San Diego, UC San Diego, or San Diego State University; have a minimum 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale; demonstrated financial need; planning to study abroad for a minimum of one semester in a Second or Third World Country whose culture, language and customs are different than their own. Criteria: Preference is given to students who are interested in studying in fields such as, but not limited to, international relations, business, economics, social development, humanitarian and civil rights, foreign languages, or other similar fields.

Marvin Arnold and Irene Jaquetta Heye Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Engineering. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior planning to attend California Polytechnic State University or current student attending California Polytechnic State University. Student must be majoring in engineering; have a minimum 3.33 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; have a demonstrated financial need; and be actively involved in extra-curricular activities, community service, or work experience. Criteria: Preference will be given to the dependents of active military personnel.

ARREOLA/CBSPM Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating senior from Montgomery and Southwest high schools in the Sweetwater Union High School District; have a minimum 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale; planning to attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university, or licensed trade/vocational school in the U.S.; have demonstrated financial need and strong commitment to contribute to the community as demonstrated by the involvement in extra-curricular/church activities, or work/volunteer experience. Criteria: Preference will be given to students who are ambitious, have shown success and potential in the courses related to their chosen career, and persevere in spite of their obstacles.

William and Lucille Ash Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be an adult re-entry student; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; demonstrated financial need; planning to attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university, or licensed trade/vocational school in the state of California; and employed (minimum part-time) and involved in serving the community as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular activities, community/church service, or work experience. Criteria: Special consideration will be given to individuals who have been in foster care.

Funds Avail.: $1,000-$5,000. Number Awarded: 3. Frank H. Ault Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Accounting. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school student or junior college student; planning to major in accounting or finance at an accredited four-year university; or a current college student (sophomore, junior, or senior year) have declared a major in finance or accounting. Students must minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and have participated in extra-curricular or community service activities. Criteria: Preference will be given to students who are active members of or have taken leadership in their school's accounting society.

Funds Avail.: $1,500 each. Number Awarded: 6. Ballard Family Foundation Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a student between the ages of 17-25; have been in foster care; have demonstrated financial need; have a minimum high school GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale or a 2.75 college GPA on a 4.0 scale; and be attending an accredited four-year university, two-year college or licensed trade/vocational school in the U.S. Criteria: Special consideration will be given to African-American students.

Funds Avail.: $1000. Number Awarded: 4. Barta-Lehman Musical Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Music. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, or current undergraduate or graduate college student; must be a serious and talented musician; planning to pursue a career in music and/or play professionally (string instruments preferred); have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and planning to attend an accredited four-year university or music academy in the U.S. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

Funds Avail.: $2,000. Number Awarded: 4. Ray and Mary Bell Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Fallbrook High School in Fallbrook, CA; will attend an accredited two-year college or four-year university in the U.S; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and have a commitment to serving the community through involvement in community service, church or extra-curricular activities. Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

James R. and Geraldine F. Bertelsen Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a practicing Roman Catholic who is: a graduating high school senior who has applied to, been accepted by, and will attend a four-year Roman Catholic college/university in the U.S.; or a student currently enrolled at a Catholic college/university in the U.S. Student must be resident of Carlsbad, CA for a minimum of one full year and be enrolling in or currently be enrolled in a course of instruction that will enable to obtain an undergraduate degree within four years. Student in senior year of college, who will graduate early and not complete a full academic year, are not eligible. Criteria: Award is given based on achievement with need being a secondary consideration.

Funds Avail.: Minimum of $5,000. Number Awarded: 3. Biocom Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Biology; Chemistry; Biomedical engineering. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale; planning to attend an accredited two-year college or four-year university in the U.S.; must demonstrate a likelihood of achieving academic success with primary emphasis in biology, chemistry, physical and computational biosciences or biomedical engineering; committed in serving San Diego life sciences community; maintain a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale while in college; and exhibit the traits modeled by BIOCOM co-founder, James McGraw (leadership, passion for life sciences, integrity, and community service). Criteria: Awards are given based on the application materials.

Qualif.: Applicant must be a San Diego resident (age 25 years and older); pursuing a degree at an accredited two-year college or four-year university in San Diego County; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; and demonstrated financial need. Criteria: Preference is given to applicants who have a record of involvement in their community as demonstrated by their extra-curricular activities, community or church service, or work experience.

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Food science and technology; Diabetes; Nutrition; Food service careers; Home Economics; Fashion design; Textile science; Housing; Management. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, current college student, or graduate student majoring in Food Sciences; Dietetics; Nutrition; Food Services; Hospitality; Human, Child and Family Development; Apparel, Fashion and Textile Services; Housing and Interiors; Consumer Economics; Management and Resources; or Family and Consumer Science Education. Student must have a minimum 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale; planning to attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university, or licensed trade-vocational school in the U.S. Undergraduate student must be enrolled in school full-time (12 units per semester or 9 per quarter). San Diego Regional Aviation Association Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: Aviation. Qualif.: Applicant must be a Southern California resident enrolled at an accredited two-year college or four-year university in Southern California, studying aviation-related curricula. Student must have a minimum 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Criteria: Preference may be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of community service. Special consideration will be given to those students with current or previous military service.

Harvey L. Simmons Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To support the education of students from California. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior; will attend an accredited two-year college or four-year university in the U.S.; have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; have demonstrated financial need; and committed in serving the community through involvement in community service, church or extracurricular activities. Criteria: Preference will be given to applicants who have participated in high school sports for at least three years, two at the varsity level, and are intending to play at the college level.
