Betsy Plank/PRSSA Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational support for deserving students intending to pursue a career in public relations. Focus: Public relations. Qualif.: Program is open to PRSSA members who are enrolled in programs of public relations studies and are in their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on their academic achievement in public relations and overall studies, demonstrated leadership, practical experience and commitment to public relations, particularly as expressed in the candidate's statement.

Funds Avail.: $4,250. To Apply: Application form and other supporting documents must be sent to PRSSA, Betsy Plank/PRSSA Scholarship, 33 Maiden Ln., 11th Fl., New York, NY 10038. Deadline: June 2.

Stephen D. Pisinski Memorial Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide educational assistance for qualified students intending to pursue a career in the field of public relations. Focus: Public relations; Journalism; Communications. Qualif.: Applicants must be majoring in journalism, communications, or public relations; must be junior or senior level only; must have at least a 3.3 overall GPA on a 4.0 system; must be members of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and leadership positions are a plus. Criteria: Applicants will be selected by criteria of the selection committee.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a resume including any academic honors, special projects, activities and/or work experience or training; an official transcript of all college studies, including grades of the preceding semester; an essay of 1,000 words or less stating your career goals; two strong writing samples; and two letters of academic and/or professional recommendations. Application form and other required items must be sent to PRSSA Headquarters by Stephen D. Pininski Memorial Scholarship, Public Relations Student Society of America, 33 Maiden Ln., 11th Fl., New York, NY 10038. Deadline: June 2.

Gary Yoshimura Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide support to qualified PRSSA members who demonstrate a financial need for the pursuit of higher education in the public relations field. Focus: Public relations. Qualif.: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0; must be a PRSSA member. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on their academic performance and application materials.

Funds Avail.: $2,400. To Apply: Application forms are available at the website. Applicants must submit an official transcript, a letter of recommendation from an internship supervisor/employer or faculty advisor; must prepare a 1,000-word essay describing a challenge they have faced, either personally or professionally, and how they overcame it; must complete the statement of intent and financial need section. Deadline: January 31.
