Description:

State and locally supported, 2-year, coed. Part of California Community College System. Awards transfer associate and terminal associate degrees. Founded 1947. Setting: 10-acre small town campus. Total enrollment: 3,200. 300 applied, 100% were admitted. Students come from 4 states and territories, 3 other countries, 88% 25 or older. Core. Calendar: semesters. Academic remediation for entering students, ESL program, services for LD students, advanced placement, summer session for credit, part-time degree program, adult/continuing education programs, internships.

Community Environment:

Blythe, in the Palo Verde Valley, is on Interstate 10, 225 miles east of Los Angeles and 165 miles west of Phoenix. The climate is dry and temperate. It is an agricultural region with year-round farming. Greyhound Bus serves the area. There is a public library, 30 churches, a hospital, 2 clinics and the usual civic organizations. Recreation includes hunting, boating, and fishing on the Colorado River. There are good part-time employment opportunities.
