Bison Transport Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To assist the deserving students who demonstrate exemplary commitment to their academic studies and community. Focus: Transportation; Logistics; Human resources; Business. Qualif.: Applicant must be a postsecondary student who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to his/her academic studies and community; must be enrolled in full-time studies in Transportation, Logistics, Human resources, or a Business program at a recognized university or college in Canada. Criteria: Applicant will be selected based on their academic success.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete the Bison Transport Commitment to People Scholarship Statement of Volunteer Work/Community Services form; must attach a letter that explains how they help people in ways other than through volunteer/charitable work or community service; must submit an official transcript of their most recent marks; must include an essay of 500 words or less that explains what motivated them to embark on studies in their chosen field and their career aspirations. Deadline: August 15.

Erb Group Companies Service to Community Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To educate an individual who demonstrates a commitment to his/her community. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicant must be a first-year postsecondary student enrolled in a recognized college or university, who demonstrates a commitment to his/her community through his/her involvement in community and/or charitable volunteer work. Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on the scholarship criteria.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicant must submit: an official transcript of record; a curriculum vitae of past volunteer and charity work; a minimum of two reference letters related to applicant's volunteer and charity work; a letter of no more than 500 words that describes why he/she has a strong commitment to community service and details future aspirations relevant to ongoing community service and/or charitable work. Application form and other supporting documents must be sent to OTA Education Foundation, Inc., 555 Dixon Rd., Toronto, ON M9W 1H8. Deadline: July 15.

J.O. Goodman Scholarship Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to Ontario students who have demonstrated commitment to academic success and community service, and who have planned to have an affiliation with the trucking industry. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be: outstanding first-year students entering college directly from high school; enrolled in approved programs at approved post-secondary institutions; twenty-five years of age or under. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on their academic success.

Funds Avail.: $1,500. To Apply: Applicants must submit a written letter of 400 words or less stating why they feel they should be considered for the award; must state their academic and personal accomplishments, contributions to community, extracurricular activities, personal, academic and career goals and other relevant information; must complete the application form available online; must submit the official transcript of marks for the current academic year; must submit the complete Scholarship Sponsorship form; must provide a written essay of 500 words or less that answers, “For the movement of freight, why is trucking considered the most efficient and effective means of transport in North America?”. Application form and other supporting documents must be sent to OTA Education Foundation, Inc., 555 Dixon Rd., Toronto, ON M9W 1H8. Deadline: July 15.

Remarks: Award is named for Mr. Joe Goodman, who for forty-four years was Senior Staff Executive of the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA).

C.V. Hoar Scholarship Awards (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to Ontario students who have demonstrated commitment to academic success and community service, and who have planned to have an affiliation with the trucking industry. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be: outstanding first-year students entering a university directly from high school; enrolled in approved programs at approved post-secondary institutions; twenty-five years of age or under. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on their academic success.

Remarks: Award is named for Mr. C.V. (Charles) Hoar, who is one of the founding members of the OTA Education Foundation and who led the Foundation into its current form when he helped establish the J.O. Goodman Awards in 1979 following the retirement of Mr. Goodman as Senior Staff Executive of the Ontario Trucking Association.

OTA Education Foundation Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide scholarship assistance to Ontario students who have demonstrated commitment to academic success and community service, and who have planned to have an affiliation with the trucking industry. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be Ontario students enrolled in approved programs at approved post-secondary institutions; must be twentyfive years of age or under. Criteria: Applicant will be selected based on their academic success.

Funds Avail.: 1,000-1,500. To Apply: Applicant must submit: the application form available online; the official transcript of marks for the current academic year; the complete Scholarship Sponsorship form; an essay of 500 words or less that answers, “For the movement of freight, why is trucking considered the most efficient and effective means of transport in North America?”.
