Description:

Independent, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Founded 1964. Setting: urban campus. Endowment: $4.6 million. Total enrollment: 1,591. Faculty: 277 (40 full-time, 237 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 16:1. 368 applied, 92% were admitted. Students come from 5 states and territories, 2% from out-of-state, 0.3% Native American, 24% Hispanic, 61% black, 2% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 0.2% international, 65% 25 or older. Retention: 58% of full-time freshmen returned the following year. Academic areas with the most degrees conferred: home economics/vocational home economics; business/marketing. Core.
