Province-supported, comprehensive, coed. Awards associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. Founded 1969. Setting: 110-acre campus. Total enrollment: 20,679. Faculty: 1,074. Community Environment:

Nanaimo is situated on Vancouver Island, across the Strait of Georgia from the city of Vancouver. The island is the largest on the Pacific Coast, both in North and South America. Nanaimo is the second largest community (95,000) on the island, being outranked by Victoria (250,000), the provincial capital located at the southern tip of the island. There are many excellent recreational facilities in the nearby mountains, forests, and lakes. Attractions include the Bastion, and the Centennial-Polk Theatre Museum. There is direct and frequent ferry service to Vancouver as well as rail, bus, and road connections to Victoria.
