Ronald L. Schmied Scholarships (Professional Development, Undergraduate/Grant)

Purpose: To encourage students with interest in marine recreational fisheries. Focus: Fisheries sciences/management; Marine biology. Qualif.: Applicant must be enrolled at a college/university degree program in the wider Caribbean or in one of Gulf of Mexico states (Mexico and the United States); or a student engaged in a research project in the Gulf of Mexico and wider Caribbean region. Criteria: Applicants will be selected based on the following: involvement with recreational fisheries issues, level of achievement, innovation, and financial need.

Funds Avail.: $1,500 (covers airfare, lodging, and research-related expenses). To Apply: Applicants must submit electronically an application letter (includes name, address, contact numbers, educational institution department, degree level, description of current marine research, career goals, and reasons for the needing financial assistance); an endorsement letter from a faculty; and a vita.
